The month of October can be very aptly called the month of festivals! Whether it is Dusshera, Eid or Diwali, there are too many reasons and occasions to celebrate, during this month. And now, Flipkart has come up with another great reason to rejoice this festive season. Come October 6th, Flipkart will host what it proudly calls, “The Greatest Sale Ever.” Very cleverly named as the Big Billion Day, the impressive shopping carnival is expected to attract a huge number of online shopping enthusiasts. By introducing flash sales, lucky draws, special offers on wish list items and more, Flipkart aims to woo a billion Indians, and attract them to shop without restraint from their website.

The Big Billion Sale is Flipkart’s attempt at overpowering it’s biggest rival in the ecommerce market in India, which is Amazon. As an answer to Flipkart’s sale, Amazon has also come up with a 3 days shopping bonanza from 4th-6th October, which will including exciting deals and discount offers on majority of it’s products, especially on footwear, movie DVD’s and watches. In either case, if there is some one who stands to gain some amazing benefits, it is the growing number of avid online shoppers in India. After all, a sale during the most festive season of the year is guaranteed to strike a chord with everyone!

Another reason why Flipkart chose 6th of October as the day to kick off the Big Billion Day is because, the number 610 holds a significant meaning for Flipkart’s founders, Sachin and Binny Bansal. It is the number of the flat from where Flipkart had its humble beginnings. Today, the successful company has managed to raise an investment of more than $1 billion, giving it all the more reason to celebrate this occasion. With rigorous campaigning throughout social media as well as electronic media, the Big Billion Sale is expected to be a huge hit among the online shopping crowd in India. And for a good reason. After all, who does not like shopping at earth-shatteringly low rates, especially during festivals?
